While you can do this with other methods such as symlinks, from my (albeit limited) research junctions seem to play nicer with most programs/video games ( source link), unlike symlinks ( source link). In basic terms, junctions are a way to tell Windows to see another folder as your Sims documents folder. While looking for a way to move my Sims documents folder to my new drive, I stumbled upon junctions and I wanted to share as I thought it could be really useful. I have multiple drives and recently got an m.2 SSD which is much faster than my current SSD with Windows on it. This seems to be unrelated to this tutorial, as it is happening even when I have it installed the “traditional way”. My settings were still working, however the cache files themselves are showing as “1kb”. Updated 7/15/19: I’ve noticed (at least with TS3) that my Cache files don’t seem to be working correctly.
